Inlayworks & Kintsugis
You wanna make your guitar look exceptional and unique ?
You came to the right place !
(We’re proposing at the Belforti Shop )
a service of custom inlays for your guitars
From the design and materials, to the refinishing, we make sure that your instruments gets a treatment worthy of the greatests artpieces.
Mastering the Art of Kintsugi
Similarly to the custom inlays, we’re offering a unique Kintsugi ornament service for your guitar, wether a damaged one that suits the traditional approach of restoration through kintsugi, or a newer instrument on which the enlightment would be simply decorative.
I’ve learned this art with the master Nicolas Pinon, who transmits this unique and delicate artform that he learned in Japan from the most reknowned masters. The Kintsugi we realize are exclusively done with the traditional materials, from the lacquer to the metal powders, that are sourced directly from Japan.
The only freedom that we take from this ancestral art is to use it as a straight decoration that stills follows the natural features of the wood, but not solely as a repair technique.
-
From your first idea, we start an exchange process during which we will design something that fits your aesthetics and desires
-
After receiving your guitar and agreeing on the design, budget and details, your guitar will be completely stripped out of frets and finish on the fretboard.
Your inlay will then be realized on the fretboard, according to the design and specifications we agreed on.
Once the inlay work is done, you guitar will be treated as it was a factory instrument. Re-establishing the radius, refretting, and following all the steps that will lead to a result similar to what you would find on a brand new Belforti®
-
Depending on your location, a hands on delivery at the shop or a shipment will be issued, following the standard production procedure we use at the shop
Here are some examples of inlays
Note that these are rather simple and timeless designs, as we try to keep things elegant and in harmony with the overall design of the instruments.
